An exhibition titled ‘The King of Ruins’ by artist Shubham Malav is going to be held from December 15 to December 20. Curated by Jitendra Padam Jain, founder of Gallery Sree Arts and co-curated by KARI, the exhibition promises a thought-provoking journey through the intricate dynamics of power in our lives.
The exhibition unfolds Malav’s exploration of the relentless pursuit of dominance that crushes peace and humanity. From race to the development of weapons for war, the exhibition captures the ubiquitous nature of power struggles evident in street discord and global divisions.
Malav hails from the historic city of Chittaurgarh, Rajasthan, and brings a unique perspective shaped by his contemplation in the hills. His upbringing in a region known for historic forts and palaces has influenced his perception, revealing underlying themes of strife, violence, and the thirst for control over land and people.
Traversing diverse landscapes of India, Malav empathetically connects with individuals who have experienced hardship. His canvases express complex emotions of pain, anger, anguish, and bitterness prevalent in society.
His distinctive drawing style, characterized by colourful and exaggerated features, creates a detailed fantasy world mirroring the disturbing realities of our society.
He is a graduate of the Institute of Fine Arts, Meerut, and his artistic journey includes participation in various group shows, where he presented paintings with mixed media and installations.
When: 11am to 7:00 Pm; December 15 to December 20
Where: Galerie Romain Rolland, Alliance Francaise De Delhi, 72 K.K. Birla Lane, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi
