VEVA ART is set to launch the New Wave Art Initiative, an exhibition that celebrates the hidden artistic talents of India’s defence personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The event will be held on October 5 to 7, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at The Park Hotel, Connaught Place, New Delhi. The exhibition will continue until October 13 at Creativity Art Gallery, Hauz Khas Village.

The initiative, featuring approximately 50 emerging artists, many of whom are members of the defence services, brings to light the creativity and emotional depth of those who serve the nation.

The exhibition provides a platform for these artists to tell their stories through powerful works of art, offering a unique perspective on the intersection of discipline and creativity in their lives.

Navita Vohra, a defence service member who participated in a recent workshop in Delhi, spoke about how art has allowed her to express emotions and experiences that words cannot fully convey. “Being part of this initiative has given me the opportunity to merge my life in the defence services with my passion for art,” she said, highlighting how discipline and creativity can produce impactful work.

Sanjana Berua, a differently-abled artist also shared his experience of participating in the exhibition. He expressed gratitude for the platform provided by VEVA ART, which has allowed him to share his personal journey through his artwork. “This initiative has been transformative for me, offering a space where I can express my story and stand alongside other talented defence artists,” he said.

The event is co-founded by Malavika Gaur and Jehan Kothari, who have played crucial roles in shaping India’s art scene through their organisation, VEVA ART. Known for promoting inclusivity and fostering emerging talent, the duo has emphasised the importance of creating opportunities for artists from diverse backgrounds. The inclusion of defence artists like Navita and Sanjan underscores their commitment to recognising and supporting artistic contributions from all walks of life.

In addition to showcasing the works of defence artists, the exhibition will also feature artists from civil services and other emerging talents. Several defence officers and their spouses are expected to attend, making this exhibition a celebration of both art and service to the nation.

The New Wave Art Initiative offers an inspiring glimpse into the creativity that thrives beyond the uniform, presenting art as a powerful medium for storytelling and emotional expression.
