Art Tree is set to host the exhibition ‘Samanvay, Harmony in Nature’ at Bikaner House, New Delhi, from November 3 to November 8, 2023. This six-day event promises a unique experience of Indian traditional art forms, accentuating the distinct local ecosystems of each artist.
These artists, namely Manisha Jha (Madhubani), Prakash Joshi (Phad), Ram Soni (Sanjhi), Japani Shyam (Gond), Baalu Mashe, Sadashiv Mashe, and Pravin Mashe (Warli), have created exceptional pieces specifically for this event, aligning with the theme ‘Samanvay and Nature.’
One of the event’s highlights is a panel discussion scheduled for November 4, 2023, at 5 pm, where experts from diverse art and culture backgrounds will explore the topic: ‘Indian Folk Art & Artists vis-a-vis Global Traditional and Folk Art.’
The panelists include Sushma Bahl (Independent arts advisor, writer, and curator), Nuzhat Kazmi (Head of Art and Aesthetics, Jamia Millia, retired), and Anubhav Nath (Owner, Ojas Art Gallery).
Pragati Agarwal, the Founder, and Managing Director of Art Tree, expressed her vision for the event, emphasising the importance of recognizing and preserving India’s rich folk art heritage.
She personally curated the artworks alongside her team to ensure their uniqueness. Agarwal expressed her gratitude towards art connoisseurs and enthusiasts for their unwavering support, underscoring the need for inclusive conversations about conserving and sustaining these diverse art forms.
Neerja Sarin, Advisor at Art Tree, shared her enthusiasm for ‘Samanvay’, highlighting its role as a platform to explore the vast diversity of Indian aesthetics across five distinct art forms.
Sushma Bahl, an Arts advisor, writer, and curator said the contemporary relevance of traditional art forms like Madhubani, Phad, Sanjhi, Gond, and Warli.
She expressed hope that these art forms, deeply rooted in India’s heritage, will continue to thrive. Bahl eagerly anticipates the show, aiming to support the artists and facilitate their exploration of local natural environments.
‘Samanvay, Harmony in Nature’ promises to be a celebration of India’s rich folk art traditions, fostering awareness, and initiating important conversations about the conservation and sustainability of these invaluable cultural treasures.
