Threshold Art Gallery is currently hosting Shadows of Breath, a solo exhibition by acclaimed Bengaluru-based artist Ravi Kashi, on view from October 31 to November 30, 2025. The show is open Monday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (Sundays by appointment) at Threshold Art Gallery, C-221, Sarvodaya Enclave.

Through this deeply meditative body of work, Kashi explores the tactile and philosophical dimensions of paper as a metaphor for the human body—fragile, porous, and inscribed with both presence and absence. Using the contemplative process of pulp painting, he transforms paper from surface to vessel, embedding it with the imprints of touch and breath.

“In this exhibition, the fragility of paper, the echoes of the body, and the weight of language all coalesce into a conversation about the unspoken and the internal in the human experience,” says Kashi. “Ultimately, Shadows of Breath presents paper as an invocation of the enduring interplay between our physical form and the ethereal nature of our inner world.”

The exhibition features works that blur the boundaries between material, memory, and meaning, where language—often in Kannada—appears not as legible text but as gesture and presence. “Paper in Kashi’s hands becomes a second skin—fragile yet resilient, porous yet present,” observes Dr Arnika Ahldag, Director of Exhibitions & Curation at the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP), Bengaluru.

Echoes of artistic influences such as Krishna Reddy and Akbar Padamsee can be felt in Kashi’s visual language, while the colours of Bengaluru—deep rusts and muted greens—emerge as fragments of place and memory.

Shadows of Breath follows Kashi’s recent solo presentation We Don’t End at Our Edges at MAP, Bengaluru (March–June 2025). With this latest exhibition, he continues his long engagement with handmade paper as a living medium that embodies both fragility and endurance.
