Sing. No Cry: A group art exhibition

Thapar Contemporary will present Sing. No Cry, a group exhibition bringing together nine artists whose practices explore instinct, experimentation and artistic freedom, at Thapar Contemporary, Kapashera, New Delhi, until October 15. Curated by Jasone Miranda-Bilbao and Vaibhav Raj Shah, the exhibition considers what it means to create without being confined by convention.

The exhibition features Amikam Toren, Asha Vaidyanath, Basist Kumar, Holly Hendry, Katie Pratt, Rahul Papaniya, Shivangi Ladha, Vanita Gupta and Willa Hilditch. Drawing on the spirit of David Lynch’s Wild at Heart, the exhibition looks at freedom through instinct, risk and the willingness to follow individual creative impulses across ideas, materials, forms and subjects.

The title Sing. No Cry centres on the idea of finding and holding on to one’s artistic voice. The works bring together distinct approaches to image, material, space and experience, with the artists pursuing individual lines of inquiry rather than a shared visual language. The exhibition invites viewers to reconsider familiar associations and engage with works that leave room for uncertainty and possibility.

Curators Jasone Miranda-Bilbao and Vaibhav Raj Shah describe the exhibition as an exploration of artistic freedom, bringing together practices that remain attentive to their own impulses rather than conforming to familiar structures or ways of seeing.

The exhibition presents artistic freedom as an ongoing process of looking, questioning and experimentation, allowing the participating practices to remain open rather than arriving at predetermined conclusions.
