
Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, in a presentation ceremony, will confer Liftetime Achievement 2023 to Shobha Deepak Singh, a Padmashri winner, at Kamani Auditorium of Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra in New Delhi on November 17.
The award ceremony will be followed by a sarod presentation by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash at 6.30pm.
Pavan K Varma, Diplomat, author and former MP (Rajya Sabha) will grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
Initiated by Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, the award aspires to honour eminent artists who have made a lasting contribution to the field of Indian classical music and dance
The prestigious Sumitra Charat Ram Award for Lifetime Achievement was first instituted in 2010 and was first presented to Pt. Birju Maharaj, the doyen of kathak Dance. In subsequent years, the Award has been given to Kishori Amonkar (Hindustani Vocal Music), Mayadhar Raut (Odissi Dance), Kumudini Lakhia (Kathak Dance), Pt. Jasraj (Hindustani Vocal Music), Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia (Hindustani Instrumental Music, Flute), Girija Devi (Hindustani Classical Music, Vocal), Ustad Amjad Ali Khan (Hindustani Classical Music, Sarod), Dr Sonal Mansingh (Indian Classical Dance) and lastly to Dr Uma Sharma (Kathak Dance).
