Neha Dhupia
Actress Neha Dhupia, who recently returned to the stage after a seven-year hiatus, described the experience as exhilarating, sharing that family commitments had kept her occupied during this period.
“I was in Arunachal Pradesh to launch a brand-new calendar in association with Arunachal Pradesh Tourism. I had not performed on stage for the last seven years, and finally, I am back. It felt great to perform there,” she said.
Neha spoke to Patriot during her recent visit to Delhi for the launch of a new Aza Fashions store, a clothing and jewellery brand.
Reflecting on her time away from the stage, Neha shared how motherhood had taken priority. “I gave birth to two children and did not feel ready to step back into this world. Later, I worked on myself, focusing on fitness and confidence. The more I work on myself, the more my confidence grows. Finally, it feels amazing to be back on stage.”
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to perform a recital and a dance act, she described the experience as deeply special. She also acknowledged the Miss India Organisation for being a constant part of her journey and growth in the industry.
The 44-year-old actress credited her husband, Angad Bedi, for his unwavering support. “My life completely changed after pregnancy, and Angad has taken great care of me. He has been my rock, and I feel like I have entered a new phase of life,” she said.
The journey of A Thursday
Neha’s film A Thursday, co-starring Yami Gautam and Dimple Kapadia, recently completed three years. She played a pregnant cop in the thriller while actually being pregnant in real life.
“I was almost eight months pregnant while shooting. Nothing was planned—the film happened all of a sudden,” she revealed.
Pushing creative boundaries
Speaking about her approach to work, Neha said, “I always try to do things that are out of the box. Making different choices and adding a creative touch to my work excites me.”
Reflecting on her role in A Thursday, she noted the evolving representation of women in Bollywood. “There has been a significant shift in how women’s roles are written compared to the past. However, I still feel that many powerhouse performers remain untapped, and I hope they get more opportunities.”
Having spent 25 years in the industry, Neha emphasised the need to evolve. “It has been a long career, and the key is to adapt. Everything—people, society, norms—changes with time, and you have to change with it. If you do not, you will be left behind.”

She has starred in films like Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Heyy Babyy, De Dana Dan, Action Replayy, Tumhari Sulu, and Bad Newz, among others.
“I believe that as an artist, while the genres may change, your creativity and essence should remain intact,” she added.
Delhi, fashion, and Roadies return
Talking about her deep connection with Delhi, Neha shared, “I have a home in Delhi. My husband’s family is here, my in-laws are here, and so is my family. My heart belongs to this city.”
She also reflected on the evolution of the fashion industry. “Fashion has grown in multiple ways—it represents progress, sustainability, and style. With so many brands emerging, people are becoming more fashionable, and that is making the industry more experimental and exciting.”
Meanwhile, the beauty queen is back on MTV Roadies Season 20, co-hosting alongside Rannvijay Singha, Prince Narula, Elvish Yadav, and Rhea Chakraborty.
