From Mirabai Chanu, PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, Bajrang Punia to Neeraj Chopra – these, among others, are the athletes who have made India proud in the Olympics this year. For our country, their achievements are a moment of victory – reinstating our hope for a better, brighter and new India.
This thought gets voice in the newly-released song – Yeh Hai Badalta Bharat, launched by BL Agro, India’s one of the fastest growing edible oils and food products. And the song has been sung by none other than the man with the most soulful voice in Bollywood – Kailash Kher.
National award winner and Padma Shri singer, Kher, has infused life to the song – which is a tribute to the Olympic champions. The song highlights the powerful and glorious victory of India’s sports persons at the Olympics 2020 this year. It is an initiative to endorse the principle of hard work, fitness and nutrition and the attitude of never giving up, which reflects in the champions of India and her countrymen.
“That’s how we are achieving new accolades and laurels. It’s a true celebration of an awakened spirit of new India. Salute to all hard-working countrymen, who are setting an example for our generation in the field of art, sports, defence, media, governance, and corporations. I thank BL Agro and its Chairman, Mr Ghanshyam Khandelwal for extending their complete support for this cause,” says Kher. He extended his gratitude further to all those who have come across and supported them in this initiative – from PM Modi himself, to the press and other organizations behind it.
When he was approached by Mr Khandelwal for this song, it didn’t take him long to say yes. Not only was he someone, whom Kher has known for long and has a lot of respect for – the whole idea behind creating this song intrigued him. “If God has given you power, don’t misuse it. People often misuse their power – and that’s not right. We need more people like Mr Khandelwal who can put their assets and power to good use,” he asserts.
Kher further speaks about the struggle an athlete, and even an artist for that matter, faces at the very beginning of their career. Especially those who don’t have the necessary financial backing, the challenges they face – to follow their dreams are insurmountable. “I knew an athlete who didn’t even own a shoe. His only dream was to get a shoe. This is what some sportspersons in our country go through, and yet we emerge victorious against all challenges.”
Ghanshyam Khandelwal, Chairman, BL Agro says “As a proud Indian, BL Agro salutes the achievements of our Olympic champions. In order to show our gratitude to the players and to further motivate the Indian sports community, BL Agro has taken this initiative along with Kailash Kher ji. Our brand Nourish is also committed to provide nutrition to our growing nation and I congratulate Kailash Kher ji for creating this beautiful inspirational song which is dedicated to our new courageous India.”
Khandelwal further shares how Modi’s journey – from a chaiwala to the PM, or the journeys of APJ Abdul Kalam, or PV Narasimha Rao — has been inspiring the citizens. Similarly, these Olympic champions have made us proud – with their stories of battling all odds to emerge victorious. This thought was echoed by Kher alike. He also believes that India after almost 40 years has performed phenomenally in the Olympics. “This is a huge achievement for our country,” he added.
Even personally, Kher’s journey has been nothing short of an inspiring one. “I have earned everything from scratch,” he says. For someone who has faced the brickbats of life early on in his career, especially in an unforgiving world like Bollywood – it is spirituality that grounds him, keeps him humble — never letting success turn him into someone he’s not. “Monetary achievement is not everything in life. In my career, which I have made from scratch – I have always believed in authenticity and a higher goal,” affirms Kher.
Being a part of the music world for over 15 years, and witnessing pathbreaking success – he still remembers his roots vividly – never losing sight of where he came from and who helped him on days when he was a nobody. On talking about his upcoming venture, Unacademy Unwind with MTV — where he, along with his band Kailasa, will be seen revamping some of his biggest hits – he says how MTV had given him and his band a platform in the initial days of his career. And that’s why he is looking forward to the collaboration.
Apart from Kher, other notable singers of India, the musical gala will also have Sonu Nigam, Lucky Ali, Rochak Kohli, Benny Dayal, Papon, Badshah, Darshan Raval, Armaan Malik, Amaal Mallik, Asees Kaur, Harshdeep Kaur, Monali Thakur, Arjun Kanungo, Sneha Khanwalkar, Aastha Gill, Reet Talwar, Lijo and King.
