Streaming giant Netflix announced on Monday the third season of its International Emmy-winning series Delhi Crime, in which Shefali Shah’s character, DIG Vartika Chaturvedi, will take on a nationwide human trafficking case.
Directed by Tanuj Chandra, the upcoming season will also see the return of Rasika Dugal as Neeti Singh and Rajesh Tailang as Bhupendra Singh.
The series, which won the International Emmy for Best Drama Series in 2020, introduces a new antagonist, played by Huma Qureshi. Additionally, Sayani Gupta has been cast in a significant role.
Like its previous two instalments, the third season is inspired by a real-life case, Shah revealed at Netflix’s 2025 slate announcement event. She shared that reading about the case deeply unsettled her, and she continues to find it difficult to shoot certain scenes.
“This season is also based on a true story, and it’s an extremely disturbing case. When I first read about it, I was frightened. Even now, I find it terrifying,” she admitted.
As per Netflix, Qureshi will portray Meena, a ruthless human trafficker.
“The case begins when the search for an injured baby’s missing mother leads to the discovery of a large-scale human trafficking operation in India. DIG Vartika Chaturvedi is confronted with the toughest investigation of her career.

As the case escalates, the stakes become higher, marking a defining moment for Madam Sir,” reads the official synopsis.
The third season’s writing team includes Chopra, Anu Singh Choudhary, Apoorva Bakshi, Michael Hogan, Mayank Tiwari, and Shubhra Swarup.
Produced by Golden Karavan and SK Global Entertainment, the new season of Delhi Crime promises to be another gripping instalment in the acclaimed crime drama series.
