SHAH RUKH’S MOST AWAITED FILM ZERO IS ALL SET TO HIT THE THEATRES

Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming Zero, to be launched in December, is already creating a buzz. Here, King Khan will be seen playing a dwarf. Directed by Anand L Rai, this film has Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles. This film is being termed as the ‘most awaited film of 2018’, implying that even after 25 years, SRK’s stardom remains unmatched.

Jointly produced by Colour Yellow Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment, it will be distributed by Yash Raj Films. Conceived by Rai in 2012, it was announced in 2016, and has been two years in the making. Sridevi also makes an appearance, the last before her death on February 24 this year.
In 2017, SRK completed his silver jubilee in Bollywood. He has millions of fans all over the world. Besides making his mark as an actor, he also manages his own film production company Red Chillies Entertainment. He believes film-making is a team effort. “Films are made with the collaboration of hundreds of people coming together, working relentlessly for an idea they believe in,” he says.

Last year, during the opening ceremony of the 48th International film-festival in Goa, I got an opportunity to interact with him and reminisce about the initial years of his career. He came as a special guest and hosted the whole film festival ceremony. Being a true perfectionist, he reached the auditorium three hours before, so that he could rehearse. One can imagine how hard-working Khan is, not only in reel life but also in reallife as well.
SRK started his career with television serials Fauji and Circus. That was the time when nobody knew that this lanky boy will one day rule Bollywood. He used to live in Delhi and juggle between Delhi and Mumbai for work.

I still recall the days before he got married to Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi girl from Delhi. I used to catch glimpses of Gauri from my balcony, when she used to visit his aunt’s home in South Delhi.

While SRK seems like an evergreen hero, it is remarkable that he started his career with the risky role of an anti-hero in Baazigar– directed by Abbas-Mustan-. For his pains, he received a Filmfare Award for the best actor in a leading role. Again, his role as an obsessive lover in Darr was no clichéd lover- boy act and showcased his versatility.

Khan’s cap has a lot of feathers. One of the most notable was Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayengey — a film which completed 1,000 weeks in the theatres in 2014 and is considered as the most significant film of that time.

He has been popular not just at the box office but has also got critical acclaim for movies like My Name is Khan, where he played the role of a Muslim man with autism, who takes the challenge to speak to the President of US and embarks on a cross-country journey.

Kal Ho Na Ho, which SRK calls his all-time favourite, created waves at the box office. Be it portraying the role a passionate lover in Devdas and Veer Zaara, or playing an undercover officer in Main Hoon Na; be it portraying a loyal employee in Yes Boss, or playing the role of a family man in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham – he mastered all genres in Bollywood. However, his last film Jab Harry Met Sejal did not perform well at the box office.

Khan, besides being one of the finest actors in Bollywood, is also a great human being and a family man. He makes it a point to spend as much time as possible with them. “There’s no place like home to disconnect from the outside world — being able to break away from a fast-paced lifestyle and spend quality time with oneself and with one’s loved ones,” he says.

Die-hard fans are awaiting the release of Zero eagerly. Apparently, he will be seen in an avatar like never before. The film’s trailer is said to be released on King Khan’s birthday, November 2.

Shah Rukh Khan praises ‘Tumbbad’

Shah Rukh Khan has lauded Tumbbad, saying the horror film is a “well-crafted” piece of art. The period horror, directed by Rahi Anil Barve and Adesh Prasad, features Ship of Theseus star Sohum Shah in the lead.

Shah Rukh took to praise the film, which recently had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, on Twitter. “Saw bits of this extremely well-crafted film. A genre we normally don’t push boundaries in. Wishing my friends, the best with this venture and hope you all watch it and enjoy it. #Tumbbad the Trailer,” he wrote. The film has been produced by Aanand L Rai, who is directing the actor in his next Zero. Actors Rajkummar Rao, Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor have also praised Tumbbad. “Phenomenal #TumbbadTrailer Congratulations @s0humshah @aanandlrai sir #PankajKumar @rahianil @ErosNow @cypplOfficial @Kanupriya222,” Rao wrote. Sinha called the film “a must watch”. Kapoor said the trailer of the film appears both “intriguing and terrifying” at the same time. Tumbbad is an Eros International and Aanand L Rai’s presentation and a Little Town Films production in association with Colour a Yellow Productions. The film has a release date of October 12.
