As part of their initiative to promote cricket at the grassroots level, IPL franchise Delhi Capitals made a significant announcement on Friday, stating their intention to establish five cricket academies across Delhi NCR starting from August 2023 in association with Conscient Sports.
These academies aim to cultivate the talents of approximately 500 young aspiring cricketers aged between 5 and 20 during their first year of operation. The carefully designed curriculum, devised by the technical team of Delhi Capitals, will serve as the foundation for their comprehensive training.
The practice sessions and match days at the academies will be meticulously organised by a team of well-trained coaches affiliated with Delhi Capitals. These sessions will be continuously reviewed by the Technical Director and the management, ensuring the highest standards of coaching and player development. Additionally, the students will be granted access to various tournaments and leagues to gain valuable competitive experience.
Delhi Capitals CEO, Dhiraj Malhotra, has revealed the franchise’s ambitious plans to nurture cricketing talent.
“We are ecstatic to grow five cricket academies with Conscient Sports, and help hone cricketing talent to the best of our ability. We look forward to a long and fruitful association,” Malhotra said.
Speaking further about the venture, Malhotra said that the Delhi Capitals Cricket Academy will provide individual attention to each player, helping them understand their unique skill sets within the realm of cricket.
He said the plans for the Delhi Capitals Cricket Academy also include scouting opportunities facilitated by Delhi Capitals themselves, as well as providing access to various tournaments and leagues.
Kriti Jain Gupta, Associate Director of Conscient Sports said they aspire to provide in-depth understanding and training to India’s budding cricketers at the grassroots level.
Jain believes that the establishment of these five cricket academies is expected to make a significant impact on the cricketing landscape in Delhi NCR.
