In a rain-affected Delhi Premier League match on Friday, West Delhi Lions narrowly defeated South Delhi Superstarz by four runs. Krish Yadav’s outstanding 106 off 68 balls helped the Lions post a total of 178 for five in their 20 overs.

The Superstarz started their chase aggressively but were restricted to 123 for five in 15 overs, falling four runs short of the DLS target when rain halted play.

For the Superstarz, Priyansh Arya smashed 16 runs in the opening over, scoring 25 off nine balls, but Saurabh Deswal was dismissed for a golden duck by Saksham Gahlot in the following over.

Ayush Badoni kept the momentum going with 30 off seven balls, including four sixes in the same over, pushing the Superstarz to 40 for two by the end of the second over. Despite Badoni’s efforts, including five sixes overall, the team only managed 70 runs in the powerplay before losing more wickets in quick succession.

Sumit Mathur and Vision Panchal brought South Delhi to 123 for five before rain intervened after the 15th over. Earlier, Lions openers Ankit Kumar (28) and Yadav put on 61 runs in the powerplay before Kumar was dismissed by Digvesh Rathi in the ninth over. Yadav reached his half-century in 41 deliveries, setting the Lions up for a substantial total.

Final scores: West Delhi Lions 178/5 in 20 overs (Krish Yadav 106, Ankit Kumar 28; Raghav Singh 2/33) defeated South Delhi Superstarz 123/5 in 15 overs (Ayush Badoni 30; Deepak Punia 1/8) by four runs via the D/L method. (With inputs from PTI)
