IPL 2025: Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant has been fined Rs 30 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during his team’s defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their last IPL match here.

The rest of the playing XI, including the Impact Player, were handed a penalty of Rs 12 lakh for the breach on Tuesday.

“As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 30 Lakh,” an IPL media release stated.

“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either Rs 12 Lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.”

Hosts LSG went down by six wickets despite Pant’s magnificent 118 not out off 61 balls to sign off the season with a loss.

The win helped RCB advance to Qualifier 1 in which they will take on Punjab Kings at Mullanpur (Chandigarh) on Thursday.

No vision, no urgency: DDCA yet to begin prep for 2025–26 season

In the previous domestic cricket season, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) announced its selection committees and coaching/support staff just 20 days before Delhi’s first Ranji Trophy match against Chhattisgarh. It came as little surprise then that Chhattisgarh—still considered minnows in domestic cricket—gave Delhi a tough fight and almost secured the crucial first-innings lead. Eventually, Delhi failed to qualify for the knockout stage of the Ranji Trophy for the sixth consecutive year, a season marred by poor selections and inconsistent player performances.

Surreal feeling but job isn’t done yet, says Shashank Singh

Punjab Kings batter Shashank Singh revealed that the team collectively “manifested” a top-two finish after the mini-auction, but emphasised that the job is only half done, with the ultimate goal of winning the IPL trophy this season. PBKS became the first team to secure a top-two spot and sealed their place in Qualifier 1 with a stunning seven-wicket win over Mumbai Indians on Monday. Often labelled perennial underachievers, this marks the franchise’s first playoff appearance in 11 years.
