RCB makes big decision, announces name of new batting coach

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have appointed Dinesh Karthik as their new batting coach and mentor following his retirement after the IPL 2024 season. Karthik, a seasoned cricketer, announced his retirement after RCB’s exit in the Playoffs stage. His transition to the support staff marks a significant move for RCB as they continue their pursuit of a maiden IPL trophy. Karthik’s vast experience and deep understanding of the game are expected to be invaluable in his new role.

Karthik has had an illustrious IPL career, playing 257 matches, making him the joint second-highest in appearances alongside Rohit Sharma and just behind MS Dhoni’s record of 264 matches. His contributions to the league have been significant, both as a player and a leader. Known for his strategic acumen and ability to perform under pressure, Karthik’s presence in the RCB coaching staff is anticipated to bring a fresh perspective and renewed vigor to the team’s batting lineup.

Dinesh Karthik has had an impressive cricketing career across various formats. In Test matches, he has played 26 games and scored 1,025 runs. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Karthik has participated in 94 matches, amassing 1,752 runs. His T20 International (T20I) career includes 60 matches with 686 runs. Additionally, in the broader T20 format, Karthik has played 401 games and accumulated a significant total of 7,407 runs.
