Apple is set to unveil its iPhone 17 series in just a few months, with four models expected to debut: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The upcoming lineup is generating buzz due to expected feature upgrades and design changes.

All four variants are likely to include ProMotion display technology, offering a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals. This marks the first time the feature could be extended beyond the Pro models to the entire iPhone range. While the tech giant has not officially announced a release date, analyst David Phelan suggests the reveal could happen on September 9.

Expected Pricing

The new iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch at $899, aligning with the current iPhone 16 Plus. Positioned between the base iPhone 17, expected at $799, and the iPhone 17 Pro, which may start at $999, the Air model adds a new tier to Apple’s lineup. Analysts also anticipate a general price increase across all models, likely driven by rising component costs and tariffs. However, Apple is expected to frame this as a value addition justified by new features.

Camera Upgrades

A major camera upgrade is expected across the series, with all models reportedly featuring a 24-megapixel front camera—double the resolution of the current 12MP lens. This enhancement aims to offer sharper selfies and better image quality during cropping.

On the rear, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could be the first Apple device to house three 48-megapixel cameras: Wide, Ultra Wide, and Tetraprism Telephoto. The advanced camera setup might also enable 8K video recording, a first for iPhones.

Design Changes

In a shift from recent models, Apple is rumored to return to aluminum frames for the entire iPhone 17 lineup. This includes the Pro and Pro Max models, marking a significant design change for the premium variants, which have previously used stainless steel or titanium.

With new features, design changes, and a broader lineup, Apple’s iPhone 17 series is shaping up to be one of the most significant upgrades in recent years.
