While traveling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes car, former chairman of Tata Group – Cyrus Mistry- met with a car accident and succumbed to his injuries. He had turned 54 just two months ago, on 4 July.
The accident took place around 3.15 pm on a bridge over the Surya river near Charoti in Palghar district. “It seems like an accident”, a police official on the case told Times of India.
Mistry was married to Rohiqa Chagla, granddaughter of jurist M. C. Chagla and daughter of lawyer Iqbal Chagla, and had two sons Firoz Mistry and Zahan Mistry.
While the mortal remains of Cyrus Mistry have been transported to Kasa rural hospital in Gujarat, the other two passengers traveling with Mistry were injured and are being treated.
A video of the damaged car Mistry was travelling in has surfaced on social media.
Several renowned personalities such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Supriya Sule and others have tweeted condolences for the Irish businessman.
