IKEA’s Delhi debut soon: All you need to know about NCR’s new furniture destination

IKEA, the Swedish furniture retailer, has  recently announced its partnership with Rhenus, an international logistics firm, to expand its service in Delhi NCR (National Capital Region).

IKEA is a globally recognised furniture and home goods retailer known for its modern, functional and affordable products. It has an expansion of 400 stores in more than 50 countries.

Here is all you need to know about the development:

  • IKEA is setting its foot in the Northern region by opening a store near Gurugram. The facility sprawls over an area of 1.5 lakh sq ft well connected by rail, road and air the company stated in a statement. It began its journey in India with the Hyderabad chapter in August 2018 followed by a store in Navi Mumbai in 2020 and Bengaluru in 2022.
  • Rhenus will establish a state of the art warehouse facility with a capacity of storing and fulfilling over 7,000 products. As per an official release made in 2022, IKEA India plans to open 5-6 stores in the Delhi NCR region in the coming years.
  • IKEA’s combination of affordable, stylish furniture and its distinctive shopping experience has made it a household name worldwide.
  • IKEA is not only a recognised furniture and home goods store but it is also known for its unique selling points, its ready to assemble furniture reduces cost of shipping and makes transportation easier, by focusing on cost efficiency in design and production, IKEA offers products at competitive prices not only this but the company’s design ethos combines form and function with modern and Scandinavian aesthetics.
  • IKEA stores feature extensive showrooms where customers can see products in realistic home settings. Customers pick up flat packed items themselves adding to the DIY experience, a market hall is also present with smaller items like kitchenware, textiles and decor.
  • One of the most interesting and compelling features of the IKEA stores all over the nation is the presence of a Swedish Restaurant in its food court offering international cuisine famous for its meatballs and lingonberry sauce and unlimited refill offer.
