1,149 missing people including 296 minors reunited with families in southwest Delhi in 2026

The Delhi Police has traced 159 missing persons including 27 minors and reunited them with their families during August under its “Operation Milap” in southwest Delhi, an official said on Wednesday.

With these, police have now traced 1,149 missing persons and children till August 31 this year. The figure includes 296 children and 853 adults.

The official said police teams scanned CCTV footage, conducted local enquiries, displayed photographs of missing persons at auto, e-rickshaw and bus stands and railway stations, and questioned bus drivers, conductors and vendors at transit points to trace their movements.

Police also checked records of nearby police stations and hospitals and involved local informers in the search.

Of the 27 missing or kidnapped children traced during August, 10 were boys and 17 were girls, while among the 132 adults, 57 were men and 75 were women, according to police.

Most recoveries were made by Kapashera police station, which traced five missing children and 35 adults during the period. The Vasant Kunj South police station recovered two children and 22 adults, while Palam Village police traced two children and 18 adults.

The Sagarpur police station traced three children and 13 adults, while the anti-human trafficking unit of the district recovered seven children and one adult woman.

Other police stations involved in the operation included Vasant Vihar, R K Puram, South Campus, Vasant Kunj North, Delhi Cantt, Sarojini Nagar, S J Enclave and Kishangarh.

Police said several people who had gone missing in previous years were also traced during the operation. This includes one man who had been missing since 2019, another missing since 2022 and four persons reported missing in 2025, including a minor girl and three adults.

The remaining 153 recoveries were of persons who had gone missing in 2026, including 26 minors and 127 adults.
