A 21-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death on Saturday after attempting to intervene in a dispute between his brother and other players during a cricket match in northwest Delhi’s Bharat Nagar area, police said.

Vishal Kumar succumbed to severe internal injuries, and authorities have initiated a murder investigation, forming teams to pursue the suspects.

Survived by his wife and one-year-old son residing in the Pratap Nagar area, Kumar was employed at a cosmetics factory in Sadar Bazar, according to police sources.

The altercation ensued when Kumar’s younger brother, Kunal, engaged in a confrontation during a cricket game near their residence, prompting Kunal to summon his elder brother to the scene. Upon arrival, Kumar was allegedly assaulted by the assailants wielding cricket bats.

Despite efforts to save him, Kumar was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Law enforcement officials have registered a murder case, with three suspects already identified and efforts underway to bring them to justice. (With inputs from PTI)
