
The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 25.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which is predicting a thunderstorm with rain during the day.
There was no rainfall in the city in the last 24 hours, and the humidity stood at 53 percent at 8:30 am, the IMD said.
Forecasters anticipate thunderstorms with rain throughout the day, with the maximum temperature likely to reach around 38 degrees Celsius.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) for the national capital was in the “moderate” category, registering a reading of 198 at 9 am, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board.
AQI categories are as follows: 0-50 “good”, 51-100 “satisfactory,” 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very poor”, and 401-500 “severe”.
Meanwhile, in storm-related incidents in Delhi, three fatalities, including a 19-year-old woman, occurred with 23 others sustaining injuries as strong winds wreaked havoc, uprooting trees, electricity poles, and causing wall collapses. The power supply was disrupted in several areas due to a dust storm on Saturday.
In Shaheen Bagh, the tragic death of 19-year-old Shireen Ahmed resulted from a neighboring building’s wall collapse. Similarly, in Vikaspuri, a man, Jaiprakash, lost his life when a tree branch fell on him near the Janakpuri flyover.
In the third incident, a 46-year-old labourer, Hariom, was fatally trapped under a fallen tree near IB Block at KN Katju Marg. (With inputs from PTI)
