A 26-year-old man was allegedly tied to a pole and brutally beaten by a group of people who suspected him of being involved in theft, in the Sunder Nagri area of northeast Delhi on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred in the G4 block of the Sunder Nagri neighborhood. Deputy Commissioner of Police for the northeast region, Joy Tirkey, disclosed that the victim’s father, Abdul Wajid, a 60-year-old fruit vendor residing in Sunder Nagri, filed a complaint regarding the death of his son, Isar.
The deceased lay outside their residence, in excruciating pain, bearing visible injury marks all over his body, as shared by DCP Tirkey.
According to Isar’s account to his father, the harrowing incident unfolded around 5 am when a group of young individuals apprehended him near the G4 block. They accused him of theft, subsequently restraining him by tying him to a pole and ruthlessly assaulting him with sticks. DCP Tirkey further added that the attackers resided in close proximity to the G4 block.
Isar was eventually brought back to his residence in a rickshaw by a concerned neighbor named Aamir. However, his injuries proved fatal, and he passed away around 7 pm that same evening.
Upon learning of the distressing situation, Abdul Wajid promptly informed the local authorities. Isar’s body was then transferred to GTB Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place, as confirmed by the DCP.
In response to this incident, the police have taken swift action by registering a murder case. Efforts are currently underway to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the brutal assault on Isar.
