An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Police was reportedly assaulted with a knife by an individual, according to the police. The incident took place in Delhi, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (west), Vichitra Veer, stated that the attacker has been identified as 26-year-old Akash, with ongoing efforts to apprehend him.
ASI Vikram Singh was stationed at a checkpoint located under the Zakhira flyover in the Moti Nagar area of west Delhi on Thursday night. At approximately 1 am, Singh halted an individual who was exhibiting suspicious behavior, as reported by the officer.
During the process of frisking the individual, he launched an attack on Singh with a knife, causing an injury to the ASI’s right hand. Singh was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment, as confirmed by Veer.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police further informed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
