A 45-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death and one person was injured in a violent clash between two families over old enmity in  Mangolpuri area of outer Delhi, police said on Tuesday.

Three accused, including a minor, have been apprehended in connection with the incident. The deceased was identified as Mahesh, and the injured as Mukesh (35), police said.

A PCR call was received around 9.37 pm on Monday about a murder in Mangolpuri. By the time police reached the spot, Mahesh had already been taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital by his family, where doctors declared him dead, police said.

During examination, doctors found a stab wound on Mahesh’s back. It was also found that Mukesh was also admitted to the same hospital with a stab wound on his left thigh, they said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the violence stemmed from a long-running dispute between two families living next to each other in Mangolpuri,” a senior police officer said.

According to police, four criminal cases — two against each side — had been registered over the last year due to the rivalry between the two neighbours.

A fresh FIR has been registered at the Raj Park police station in connection with Monday’s incident. Three main accused — Prince alias Arun, Bharat and a juvenile — have been apprehended. Multiple teams have been formed to trace all those involved in the attack, police said.

Police are examining the sequence of events leading to the stabbing and are recording statements of eyewitnesses and family members. CCTV footage from the area is also being scanned to establish the exact role of each accused, they said.
