A man was arrested here for allegedly raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter, resulting in a five-month pregnancy, police said on Thursday.

According to the police, a PCR call regarding the matter was received on Wednesday. “Responding swiftly, a women’s police team reached the spot and took the victim into a safe environment,” a senior police officer said.

The officer further said that during preliminary inquiry, the victim disclosed that her stepfather had been subjecting her to forcible sexual intercourse repeatedly for the last about one year, due to which she became pregnant.

“The accused is engaged in the work of manufacturing carton/cardboard boxes and was residing with the victim,” the officer added.

The victim was immediately shifted to a hospital in the presence of women police staff, where the duty doctor confirmed sexual assault and that the girl was approximately five months pregnant.
