A member of the Neeraj Bawana-Naveen Bali gang was arrested by a Special Cell team following a brief exchange of gunfire in Rohini Sector-34 on Thursday, according to police sources.
Rahul Dabas (36) was apprehended in connection with a murder case and is believed to be involved in seven additional cases of attempted murder and extortion, a law enforcement official stated.
“The Special Cell received intelligence suggesting he was en route to meet someone in Rohini Sector 34 on Thursday. We set up a trap, and upon encountering the police, he opened fire,” the official explained.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the police team members were equipped with bulletproof vests.
Following his arrest, Dabas was subjected to interrogation, during which a firearm was seized from his possession, the official added.
Authorities have identified him as a close associate of incarcerated gangsters Neeraj Bawana and Naveen Bali, both currently detained in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.(With inputs from PTI)
