Police on Thursday said that a gold supplier was stabbed to death allegedly by four people, including two of his employees, in Karol Bagh area in Delhi. The victim was identified as Pratap Jadhav, a resident of WEA Karol Bagh and originally from Maharashtra.
According to police, around 10.45 pm on that fateful night, they received information about the incident that had taken place in Beadonpura.
Rushing to the scene, they discovered Pratap Jadhav lying in a room, covered in stab wounds and surrounded by a pool of blood Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Sanjay Kumar Sain said.
DCP said that during investigation it was uncovered that the deceased had been actively involved in supplying gold to various jewellers.
He said inside the room, a substantial sum of Rs 39.50 lakh in cash was found and subsequently seized by the authorities.
He added that the police promptly registered a case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code to bring the culprits to justice.
The investigation progressed as the authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the area, which captured the presence of four suspects at the scene, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Sanjay Kumar Sain said.
Among them, two were identified as Ganesh and Sudeep, both of whom were employees working for the victim, said DCP.
Fortunately, one of the suspects, Sudeep, a resident of Karnataka, has already been apprehended by the police, he said.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the remaining suspects involved in this heinous crime. (With inputs from PTI)
