Choudhary said that Gazi travelled to Delhi by train and worked as a rag-picker, frequently moving across the city to avoid detection. When questioned by the police, he initially posed as a resident of Malda in West Bengal, but further interrogation revealed his true identity.

The Foreigners Regional Registration Office has initiated deportation proceedings, and Gazi has been placed at Sewa Sadan in Shahzada Bagh until his return to Bangladesh, the DCP said.

Delhi: Blind football team wins accolades, but no sight of government support yet

The single letter echoes across the Sewakutir Complex ground in North West Delhi. A chorus of the sound erupts as 10 players in practice establish their positions through the call. In an official match, failing to repeat the sound would result in a penalty. Although practice sessions are more lenient, the habit persists. The entire squad of blindfolded players remains in position, relying on camaraderie and chemistry as their guiding light. The Delhi Blind Football team has been growing from strength to strength over the past decade, fuelled by their aspirations. The sport has not only transformed their lives but also driven them towards a better future.

Muted cheer in Holi markets

Ahead of Holi 2025, the markets of Delhi are once again adorned with Holi accessories. Patriot visited Asia’s largest domestic goods wholesale market, Sadar Bazaar, Asia’s largest spice market, Khari Baoli, and the Capital’s favourite market Chandni Chowk to understand the trends and business. Starting from Chandni Chowk, shoppers can find almost everything needed for Holi. From decades-old sweet shops to stalls at Kinari Bazaar selling Holi decor, and roadside vendors offering colours and balloons—it has it all. For those looking to buy gift packs in bulk at reasonable prices, Chandni Chowk provides plenty of options.
