In a fresh security scare at Parliament, a man was caught early Friday morning after scaling the boundary wall of the complex by climbing a tree, official sources said.

The incident took place around 6.30 AM, when the unidentified man managed to enter the premises but was quickly intercepted by security personnel and handed over to Delhi Police.

According to a police official, the man first used a tree to reach the wall before jumping into the compound. He is now being interrogated by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Delhi Police’s Special Cell and other agencies to ascertain his motive.

The breach has revived memories of the December 13, 2023 incident, when two men set off smoke canisters inside the Lok Sabha chamber after leaping from the visitors’ gallery, while two others staged a similar protest outside. The episode had coincided with the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on Parliament, underscoring persistent concerns over security at the high-profile complex.
