A 22-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly stabbing a woman in northwest Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar area, police said on Sunday.

The purported incident took place late on Friday, and the suspect was taken into custody the following day.

Footage from CCTV cameras, purportedly showing the man chasing the woman and stabbing her multiple times, circulated widely on social media.

The video also depicted bystanders attempting to assist the woman and subdue the man, who ultimately fled the scene.

“The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries. We have detained the suspect, identified as Aman,” a senior police official said.

Police sources revealed that Aman became enraged after the woman insulted him.

“It was discovered that the man acquired the knife from a nearby fruit vendor, pursued the girl, and attacked her. Several passersby aided in getting the victim to the hospital. The vigilance of locals prevented a potential tragedy,” the source elaborated. (With inputs from PTI)
