A 29-year-old junior engineer working on an NDMC project was arrested for allegedly firing in the air in the early hours of Thursday while under the influence of alcohol in Delhi’s Rajender Nagar area, police said.

Singh, a resident of Old Rajender Nagar, is originally from Kankhal in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar and works as a junior engineer on a New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) project, the statement read.
Following the information, a police team immediately reached the spot and apprehended Singh, who was travelling in a white Baleno car, it read.

A .32-bore licensed revolver, along with two live and two empty cartridges, was recovered from his possession. Five additional live cartridges were also found in the weapon’s holster, the statement said.
Preliminary inquiry suggests that Singh allegedly fired the weapon in the air without any apparent reason and was under the influence of excessive alcohol at the time of the incident. No reason for the firing has been established so far, it read.
A case has been registered and Singh has been arrested and further investigation is underway, police said.
