Swati Maliwal, the chief of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), has taken action against a man who allegedly exposed the identity of a minor wrestler.

The minor wrestler had filed a sexual harassment complaint against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP and the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India.

The man, who claimed to be the girl’s uncle, revealed her identity by displaying her documents to the media, which is a criminal offense under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Maliwal tweeted in Hindi, expressing her concern and issuing a notice to the police.

She demanded that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed against the man under the POCSO Act. Maliwal questioned whether the authorities were allowing Brij Bhushan to remain free in order to pressure the victim.

Two separate FIRs have already been registered against Brij Bhushan in connection with allegations of sexual harassment made by several women wrestlers, including the minor girl.

The DCW has requested the police to provide details, including a copy of the FIR against the person who revealed the girl’s identity.

The commission has summoned the police to appear before them on June 6 at 12 pm. Meanwhile, the wrestlers have been staging a protest at Jantar Mantar since April 23, demanding the dismissal and arrest of Brij Bhushan.

On Tuesday, the police announced that the wrestlers would not be allowed to move their sit-in protest to India Gate, as it is not a designated site for demonstrations. Alternative locations for their protest will be suggested. (With inputs from PTI)
