A 22-year-old man employed at a renowned eatery in Connaught Place was reportedly murdered by his former employer over a financial disagreement, police said.
Sachin Kumar, a waiter at the eatery, was found deceased in Dasna, Uttar Pradesh, with Hashib Khan (31), his former employer, and Khan’s wife, Shamina Begum, arrested in connection with the case.
Initial investigations indicate that Kumar, who had a dispute involving Rs 2 lakh with Khan, was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with Begum.
Khan operated a T-shirt manufacturing unit in Sangam Vihar, south Delhi.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla said that Kumar had been missing since March 31 from Connaught Place, prompting the police to register a case of abduction based on his family’s complaint.
Another police official mentioned that the accused revealed Kumar’s alleged involvement with Begum and claimed to have witnessed them in a compromising situation. However, these allegations are currently under investigation.
According to Kumar’s elder brother Mohit, who resides in Aligarh, his brother had previously worked at Khan’s factory in Sangam Vihar for about one-and-a-half years.
“In February, he left the job due to a financial dispute. Although my brother repaid Rs 1 lakh, they demanded more money,” Mohit explained.
He further stated that they frequently threatened his brother, which caused him distress.
Police reports indicate that on March 31, Begum summoned Kumar to meet her.
Upon meeting her, Begum and her husband allegedly murdered Kumar by slashing his throat. The duo then transported the body in their Maruti Alto car to Dasna, where they disposed of it in a jungle.
Concerned when Kumar failed to return home, his family reported him missing to the police the following morning, as his mobile phone was switched off.
The police accessed Kumar’s call data record (CDR), which implicated Khan and his wife in the murder.
