A 26-year-old woman’s body was recovered in an almirah at a residence in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka area, with her father suspecting her live-in partner’s involvement in the murder, police said.
The incident was brought to light after the victim’s father contacted the police on Wednesday when he couldn’t reach her for several days.
A PCR call was made at 10:40 pm on Wednesday, reporting a potential homicide, prompting a response from the Dabri police station.
Upon investigation, the deceased woman’s father accused her live-in partner, Vipal Tailor, of the crime, alleging previous instances of domestic violence. The complainant stated that his daughter had expressed fear of being murdered by Tailor.
The woman had been residing with Tailor in the rented flat for about one and a half months. The body has been moved to DDU Hospital mortuary for further examination, and efforts are underway to locate the accused, who hails from Surat, Gujarat.
A murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused based on the complainant’s statement, and police are reviewing CCTV footage to reconstruct the sequence of events. (With inputs from PTI)
