In a bizarre incident, a snatcher reportedly swallowed a woman’s gold earrings after she caught him trying to escape with her jewelry in northeast Delhi’s Brahmapuri area.
The incident occurred around 10 pm on Thursday but was reported on Sunday. Phoolan Devi, a resident of Brahampuri, was returning home from Pusta when an unidentified person on a motorcycle approached her from behind and forcefully took her four-gram gold earrings, as stated by a senior police officer.
Devi attempted to apprehend the culprit, identified as Nasir (34), but he snatched her purse and made an attempt to flee. With the assistance of some bystanders, Devi managed to catch hold of the snatcher and pulled him off his motorcycle. Shockingly, Nasir, while being detained, swallowed the stolen gold earrings right in front of the victim, according to the officer.
Nasir, who resides in Old Mustafabad, was subsequently arrested, and the authorities are taking further action to recover the swallowed earrings, as informed by the police.
