A 19-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed by his neighbor in a petty dispute in northeast Delhi’s Dayalpur area, according to the police.

The incident took place on Friday around 10 pm when Sonu, along with his cousin Rahul, went to have ice cream near Shibban School after dinner.

Rahul had a confrontation with a 20-year-old named Mohammad Zaid, who resides in the same street. During the fight, Zaid stabbed Rahul in the lower abdomen, while Sonu sustained injuries on his arms.

The investigation has revealed that the altercation stemmed from an ego clash between the two individuals.

Zaid works as a carpenter with his father, whereas Rahul’s father sells candy. Zaid, who is currently on the run, has been booked under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) at Dayalpur Police Station.

Rahul is currently receiving treatment in the ICU ward of GTB Hospital. Saurabh Bhardwaj, a Delhi Cabinet minister and AAP leader, criticized the BJP in a tweet written in Hindi, regarding the incident in the Brijpuri area of Delhi.

He mentioned the presence of a Hindu-Muslim angle and questioned the BJP’s response and the Lieutenant Governor. (With inputs from PTI)
