A 25-year-old woman’s body was found at her rented accommodation in Greater Noida, raising suspicions of a dowry-related killing, police officials said on Wednesday.
According to sources, the woman’s husband, employed at a private hospital in Greater Noida, is currently on the run and is believed to be the perpetrator responsible for strangling her.
Originating from Agra, the couple had relocated to Greater Noida merely six days before the unfortunate incident, said Greater Noida Additional DCP, Ashok Kumar Sharma. The Knowledge Park police station was alerted on Tuesday about the grim discovery at a house in Tugalpur village, prompting immediate action.
Sharma said, “The woman’s family has been informed, and efforts are underway to apprehend her absconding husband.”
Forensic experts, in collaboration with local law enforcement, conducted necessary procedures at the scene, and subsequently, the body was sent for a detailed autopsy, according to the officer.
Providing additional details, Knowledge Park police station in-charge, Vipin Kumar, mentioned that a formal complaint had been lodged by the woman’s grieving family. “The nature of the allegations suggests a possible dowry-related motive behind the tragic killing. The couple had been married for three years,” Kumar said.
He further informed that an FIR was in the process of being registered, encompassing relevant legal provisions related to murder and dowry-related offences. The investigation is actively ongoing, with authorities eagerly awaiting the autopsy report to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding this distressing incident. (With inputs from PTI)
