
A 28-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend at a hotel in Lahori Gate area of Delhi, following which the accused attempted suicide by consuming poison, police said on Thursday.
The accused, a native of Rajasthan, and the woman, who was from Bihar, had checked into Hotel Prince on Wednesday evening, they said.
According to the police, the man allegedly attacked the woman with a knife during the night, leaving her critically injured. He then consumed poison in an apparent attempt to end his life.
Hotel staff found the woman lying in a pool of blood inside the room on Thursday morning. She was declared dead at the spot, while the accused was rushed to a hospital, the police said.
The woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway, they said.
The police, in a statement, said that on Thursday morning, information was received at Lahori Gate Police Station regarding a man and a woman found unconscious at Hotel Prince.
“A police team immediately reached the spot, where a woman was found lying unconscious with multiple stab injuries. A man was also found unconscious at the same location,” a senior police officer said.
Both were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. The woman was declared brought dead, while the man is presently undergoing treatment, the officer said.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and circumstances surrounding the incident, the officer added.
