An 18-year-old woman has reported sexual assault after being drugged by two men, who she befriended on a social media platform.

The arrests of the alleged perpetrators, aged 19 and 21, were made in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday following a case lodged at the Ambedkar Nagar police station on Wednesday.

In her statement, the victim asserted that at approximately 1 pm on Monday, she was summoned by the men to a designated intersection in Madangir, according to the police.

Reportedly, she recounted that the men insisted she join them on their scooter, but she initially declined. Facing threats of severe consequences, she eventually acquiesced and agreed to accompany them, the police stated, referencing the victim’s statement.

The men transported her to Malviya Nagar, where they shared a meal. Allegedly, the complainant asserted that the food had been spiked with drugs, causing her to feel disoriented after consuming it, according to the police.

Upon regaining consciousness, she realized that she had been subjected to sexual assault, as per the woman’s complaint.

Law enforcement officials revealed that the accused individuals have been apprehended under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 376-D (gang-rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention).
