Families living in 1396 flats in the immediate vicinity of Sector 93A’s Supertech twin towers will have to move out by 21 August. This comes as a consequence of the demolition order for the twin towers. The residents, nearly 5,000 of them, have also been directed by authorities to take their vehicles with them as no vehicle will be allowed within a 100-metre radius of the blast site. Power supply to the towers will also be cut off post evacuation.

Apex and Ceyane – the twin towers – are flanked by Supertech’s ATS Greens village and Emerald Court on each side. While finlaising the demolition in a meeting held on Wednesday, an exclusion zone was decided: 270 mts to the back, which covers Emerald Court’s green belt; 450 mts in the front, covering a park; 250 mts to the left and right of the towers covering the Greens village and Emerald Court; some portions of sector roads and the Noida Expressway. Supertech has also written to the Airports Authority of India and Air Force to declare the area as a no-flight zone between 2 pm to 3 pm on 21 August.

The demolition has been scheduled for 2:30 pm, and the evacuation is recommended to be five hours ahead of the demolition. However, officials have pointed out that there may be a possibility that residents will be asked to evacuate a day prior to the demolition. A final decision on the time of evacuation will be decided by the representatives of the RWAs, the police brass and Noida Authority officers in a meeting which will be held next week.

Tower managers will oversee the evacuations, and no one other than the core blast team and designated officers will be allowed in the excursion five hours before the blast and two hours after it.

The process of “charging” the towers, or bringing in the explosives, will begin on 2 August. The engineering firm Edifice will be in charge of this process. While a full dress rehearsal is being planned on 14 August to assess the preparedness, a separate meeting with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is also being scheduled.
