Following the suspension of a Delhi Police sub-inspector for disrupting people offering ‘namaz’ in Inderlok, security measures remain in place to uphold law and order in the vicinity, as per officials.

In north Delhi’s Inderlok and its surrounding areas, at least three paramilitary companies along with local police units will continue their deployment on Saturday, authorities stated.

Official sources revealed that senior police officials have engaged in discussions with members of a peace committee to ease tensions in the locality.

Joint Commissioner of Police (North), Parmaditya, assured on Saturday that the situation is well-managed and peace prevails in the area.

“Our officers are maintaining vigilance, with an ample number of security personnel stationed in the locality,” Parmaditya affirmed.

Sub-inspector Manoj Kumar Tomar faced backlash after forcefully interrupting individuals during their Friday prayers on a road in north Delhi. His actions prompted protests by hundreds of locals and led to his immediate suspension.

Various segments of society, including political figures, denounced Tomar’s actions after a video capturing the incident went viral on social media.

Tomar was serving as the in-charge of the Inderlok Police Post under Sarai Rohilla Police Station and had been deployed there for the past two months.

The incident occurred during Friday prayers around 2 pm near the Inderlok Metro Station. In the footage, Tomar is seen attempting to disperse a group of men praying on the road near a mosque, after which he forcefully shoves and kicks some of them.

Residents, angered by the incident, gathered in large numbers and blocked the road in protest.
