A 38-year-old man who was posted at an air force station was found hanged inside a park near Thyagaraj Stadium in south Delhi, said police.
Police identified the deceased as Akhileshwar Mishra, posted at the Race Course Air Force Station and hailed from a village in Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, Mishra’s body was found hanging from a tree in the park, using a rope, and a suicide note was found on him.
The police are currently analysing the contents of the note. Dated July 1, the note reveals that Mishra claimed to be free from any fear or distress but expressed feeling like he didn’t belong in the world and had been deceived by a stranger, they said.
The discovery of Mishra’s body was made early on Sunday morning by parkgoers, who promptly informed the police at around 5.40 am.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chandan Chowdhary said that when the police arrived at the scene, they found the man hanging inside the park, specifically opposite gate no. 7 of the Thyagaraj Stadium. Inquest proceedings have been initiated, and Mishra’s family has been notified.
He said that Police investigation has revealed that Mishra had visited the park alone late Saturday night, and at this point, no foul play is suspected.
Mishra leaves behind his parents, wife, and two children, said police. (With inputs from PTI)
