Air quality improves in Delhi

The air quality in the national capital showed a slight improvement to settle in the poor category on Thursday morning, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) this morning was recorded at 276 compared to 336 on Wednesday morning. Delhi’s 24-hour average air quality on Wednesday was 289.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classification, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.

The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 5.8 degrees Celsius, 1.1 notches below the season’s average, the India Meteorological Department said.

The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 16 degrees Celsius.

The weather office has forecast dense fog on Friday and Saturday.
