Today’s election kicked off at 8 am.  Only about 9% of eligible voters had cast ballots as of 10:30 am. By noon, they had only come to 18%. Only 30% of Delhi’s 1.45 crore voters had shown up at polling places by 2 pm, six hours into the day of voting. Voting will continue until 5.30 p.m.

The high-stakes civic elections, which are primarily  being considered as a three-way race between the BJP, the AAP, and the Congress, will feature around 1.45 crore eligible voters and 1,349 candidates.

Data from the State Election Commission shows that there are 1,45,05,358 registered voters in Delhi overall, including 78,93,418 men, 66,10,879 women, and 1 061 transgender people.

13,638 polling places have been set up by the Delhi State Election Commission.

According to the data shared by State Election Commission, a sizable team of election officials and security organisations have made necessary preparations for holding elections at 13,638 polling stations dispersed throughout Delhi. For the benefit of the voters’ quality experience, 68 Model Polling Stations and 68 Pink Polling Stations have also been established.  Adequate arrangements for the deployment of forces have been made.

A feeding room for nursing mothers, a creche for young children accompanying voters, swings for children, and a selfie booth are among the amenities set up in the 68 pink booths.

Votes will be counted on December 7 and the results will be announced on the same day.
