The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will turn into a devotional arena on Sunday evening as Delhi hosts a Maha Shivratri bhajan jamming night that aims to blend traditional chants with contemporary music and visual spectacle.
Hosted by the urban spiritual platform Via Veda, the event will open at 5 pm, with musical performances scheduled to begin at 6 pm. Organisers have described the programme as a “bhajan clubbing night”, combining classical Ganga Aarti, Shiva bhajans, new-age kirtan, percussion, and immersive lighting under the open sky.
The evening will begin with traditional devotional renditions before building into a high-energy musical crescendo. A synchronised collective chant of “Om Namah Shivaya” is expected to be the emotional centrepiece, with attendees joining together in unison.
The line-up includes devotional singer Suhas Sawant, who is set to perform popular Shiva bhajans including “Jai Mahakaal”, while Gajendra Pratap Singh will present well-known Shiva anthems such as “Kailash Mein Niwasi” and “Dulha Bane Hai Baba”. An immersive kirtan band will also perform, blending contemporary instrumentation with traditional chants.
Organisers said attendees will be welcomed with vibhuti associated with the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and rudraksha beads linked to the Pashupatinath Temple, along with prasad boxes. Additional offerings will include complimentary access to astrology services through the Via Veda platform.
The event, open to participants aged 10 and above, has been conceptualised by Via Veda founder Kajal Bihani, who said the initiative aims to make spiritual traditions more accessible to younger audiences.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for the Mahashivratri Bhajan Clubbing experience. Your devotion and collective energy can transform this evening into something far greater than an event,” Bihani said.
She added that the initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate ancient spiritual practices with modern lifestyles, reflecting a growing trend of devotional gatherings adopting contemporary formats to engage urban audiences.
