The NDMC has put 19 personnel on standby for medical and other emergencies during the BRICS Summit, while keeping essential services running at its hospitals, officials said on Friday.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has formed an 11-member Quick Medical Response Team comprising specialist doctors, nursing officers and other medical personnel for immediate mobilisation in case of a medical emergency or disaster.

The arrangements will remain in place throughout the BRICS Summit, from September 11 to 15, the officials said.

An eight-member Disaster Management Team, comprising senior specialists, heads of departments and supporting staff, has also been kept on call for medical intervention, triage, stabilisation and referral, officials said.

Regular OPD services at Charak Palika Hospital in Moti Bagh remained closed on September 11, while its casualty and emergency services continued uninterrupted, the officials said.

Emergency services at Palika Maternity Hospital also remained operational, they said.

The medical arrangements are part of NDMC’s wider 24-hour civic preparedness for the summit, with its Integrated Command and Control Centre at Palika Kendra coordinating responses to civic issues and liaising with agencies such as the Delhi Police, Traffic Police and CPWD.

The NDMC has also deployed departmental nodal officers at the control centre during night hours and is maintaining a log of complaints and action taken on them, officials said.
