East Delhi recorded a success rate of 95.6 per cent, while West Delhi fared slightly better with 95.7 per cent, according to a CBSE notification. On Tuesday, the CBSE clarified that it does not announce any merit list or award divisions in Class 10 and 12 results in order to prevent unhealthy competition among students.

“As per an earlier decision by the board to avoid unhealthy competition amongst students, no merit list is prepared and declared by CBSE. Also, the board has not awarded first, second and third division to its students,” said CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj.

He added, “The board will issue merit certificates to the top 0.1 per cent students who have scored the highest marks in the subjects. The merit certificates will be available in the Digi-Locker of the students concerned.”

CBSE merit lists were also not issued in 2020 and 2021, as the board had adopted an alternate assessment scheme due to the cancellation of some or all papers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The board permanently discontinued the merit list policy in 2022.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated students of Classes 10 and 12 on the announcement of their CBSE board results. He emphasised that a single examination does not define a student’s potential and that their strengths extend far beyond academic scores.

“Heartiest congratulations to everyone who has cleared the CBSE Class XII and X examinations! This is the outcome of your determination, discipline and hard work. Today is also a day to acknowledge the role played by parents, teachers and all others who have contributed to this feat.

“Wishing Exam Warriors great success in all the opportunities that lie ahead! To those who feel slightly dejected at their scores, I want to tell them: one exam can never define you. Your journey is much bigger and your strengths go far beyond the mark sheet. Stay confident, stay curious because great things await,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.
