Five students have been charged with assaulting and molesting a fellow classmate on the school premises in Noida, prompting an investigation by the police, as reported on Sunday.
The girl’s father asserted that she had initially reported an instance of “sexual harassment” to the school principal on October 9. However, the accused allegedly misbehaved with her again on October 13, prompting the father to approach the police.
The private school, situated in Noida Sector 100, has initiated its own internal investigation into the matter, describing it as a “disciplinary” issue.
According to a police spokesperson, “The girl, a Class 11 student, was assaulted by her classmates. An FIR has been filed at the local Sector 39 police station, and the girl underwent a medical examination.”
The spokesperson emphasized that all allegations in the case are under thorough investigation. “The complainant and the accused are all minors. The school principal was informed about the incident via email by the girl. The actions taken by the school after her complaint are also being examined.”
An FIR has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (assault or criminal force), 345A (sexual assault), and 506 (criminal intimidation), as stated by the police.
In the complaint made on October 13, the father alleged that despite his daughter informing the school principal about the “vulgar” talk and “sexual harassment,” and objecting to the accused’s actions, the school allegedly took no action. The father claimed that his daughter had called him on October 13 to report the repeated behavior, and he immediately contacted the principal, who, according to him, assured an investigation into the matter.
The father further alleged that one of the accused students threatened to kill his daughter. In response, the school issued a statement on Saturday acknowledging the “unfortunate incident” on campus. The school stated, “The disciplinary matter is being thoroughly investigated and addressed.”
