The DDA on Thursday issued a warning that unauthorised occupation of its land or encroachment is a violation of the Delhi Development Act, 1957, and will invite demolition action.

In a notice, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) said it has come to its attention that certain persons and entities are unlawfully occupying, encroaching upon, or otherwise making illegal use of land vested in or owned by the Authority.

“All land vested in or owned by DDA is government land. No person shall occupy, encroach upon, construct any structure or building on, store material on, dump debris on, operate unauthorised parking on, or otherwise put to illegal use, any such land without the prior written permission of the competent authority,” the notice said.

The land-owning agency also warned that any unauthorised occupation shall be liable to summary removal by the DDA without any further prior notice, at the sole risk, cost and consequence of the encroacher.

“Expenses incurred by DDA in demolition or removal will be recovered as arrears of land revenue. The notice will serve as a standing notice to all encroachers,” it said.

The Authority directed the public to refrain from encroaching upon its land, from buying, selling or advertising property on DDA land without verifying legal status, and to forthwith remove any existing unauthorised occupation.

A few days ago, Delhi LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu directed DDA to take strict action against land encroachment.
