Delhi Assembly election results: BJP wins four seats, leads in 44

Delhi Assembly election results: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won four assembly seats in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi and is leading in 44 others, marking a strong performance in the state elections.

In Shalimar Bagh, BJP’s Rekha Gupta secured 68,200 votes, defeating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Bandana Kumari, who got 38,605 votes. Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Parveen Kumar Jain finished third with 4,892 votes.

In Tri Nagar, BJP’s Tilak Ram Gupta won with 59,073 votes, ahead of AAP’s Preeti Jitender Tomar, who received 43,177 votes. Congress candidate Satender Sharma managed 6,897 votes.

In Rajouri Garden, BJP’s Manjinder Singh Sirsa secured victory with 64,132 votes, while AAP’s A. Dhanwati Chandela polled 45,942 votes. Congress candidate Dharam Pal Chandela trailed with 3,198 votes.

In Sangam Vihar, BJP’s Chandan Kumar Choudhary won with 54,049 votes, narrowly defeating AAP’s Dinesh Mohaniya, who received 53,705 votes. Congress candidate Harsh Choudhary secured 15,863 votes.

With BJP leading in 43 other constituencies, the results indicate a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape.

BJP supporters erupted in celebration outside its Delhi headquarters, waving party flags and dancing to the beats of ‘dhol’.

Holding up cutouts of a lotus, the BJP’s election symbol, they also smeared each other with saffron-coloured powder.
