
Security measures: Over 30,000 Delhi Police personnel, 220 paramilitary companies, and 19,000 home guards have been deployed across the city to ensure a free and fair election. All 65 border points with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have been sealed.
Queue Management System (QMS): A first-of-its-kind app introduced by the Election Commission allows voters to check real-time crowd levels at polling stations through the Delhi Election – 2025 QMS app.
Home voting facility: Under a special provision, 6,980 out of 7,553 eligible senior citizens and persons with disabilities have already cast their votes from home.
Candidates with criminal background: Out of 699 candidates, 118 have declared criminal cases, including serious charges like corruption, rioting, and violent offences. Political parties have failed to justify the selection of 24 such candidates as mandated by the Supreme Court.
Wealthiest candidates: Among the candidates with criminal records, 71% (84 candidates) are crorepatis. BJP’s Karnail Singh is the richest candidate to be contesting the Delhi Assembly elections this year with declared assets worth a staggering Rs 259.67 crore. Another BJP candidate Manjinder Singh Sirsa is close behind Karnail Singh, with declared assets worth Rs 248.85 crore. Congress’s Gurcharan Singh is the third richest candidate, with assets worth Rs 130.90 crore. BJP’s New Delhi candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh (Rs 115.63 crore) and AAP’s Rajouri Garden candidate A Dhanwati Chandela (Rs 100.90 crore) are the fourth and fifth richest candidates respectively.
Seizures: Authorities have made record seizures worth Rs 220 crores, including Rs 88 crores in drugs, Rs 81 crores in precious metals, and nearly Rs 40 crores in cash—a nearly fourfold increase from the Rs 57.5 crores seized in 2020.
Law and order compliance: Since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was implemented, over 7,500 complaints were received through the cVigil app, with 7,467 resolved, mostly within 100 minutes. More than 2,780 FIRs have been registered under various laws, including the Excise Act and Arms Act.
Polling arrangements: 21,584 ballot units, 20,692 control units, and 18,943 VVPATs have been set up across the city. 733 polling stations have been designated for persons with disabilities. Dummy and Braille ballot papers have also been arranged.
Past Election trends: In 2020, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, BJP secured 8, while Congress failed to win any. In 2015, AAP had an even bigger sweep, winning 67 seats, leaving just 3 for BJP and zero for Congress.
